Our Weekend Getaway to Seattle

Remember when I used to blog regularly and document our life?  No?  It's been awhile, I don't blame you for forgetting ;).  I really do miss documenting our adventures and want to get back to it.  Maybe that will be one of my New Year's resolutions?!

We just got home from a quick weekend getaway up to our favorite city and it is definitely worth documenting!  I love visiting Seattle, it's so nostalgic and brings me back to when our Sloany girl was a tiny baby.  Feels like yesterday and forever ago all at the same time.

We walked all around the city and visited our old building and favorite shops.  Sloan loved seeing all of the places we used to taker her to when she was a baby, it was really cute!  Of course we made a stop at the public market, gum wall, and Starbucks.  The kids absolutely loved the public market.  Fresh flowers, trinkets, and mini donuts aren't hard to love though ;).

We stayed at the Hyatt at Olive 8 and it was the perfect home away from home.  Our room was so clean and spacious with the most amazing views.  The hotel has a super yummy restaurant called Urbane and a cute little coffee shop in the lobby.  Our kids loved the indoor pool and cannot wait to go back and visit!  If you're visiting Seattle for the first time, I highly recommend the Hyatt at Olive 8.  The location was so central to everything downtown!

We ended our weekend at Enchant and it was. pure. magic.  There was a Christmas light maze where we found all of Santa's reindeer, ice skating, hot cocoa, and we even got to see Santa!  The kids had SO much fun and Eric and I loved seeing how magical it all was for them.  We will definitely be adding this to our Christmastime traditions!

If you're visiting Enchant, here are a few tips:

1. If you can swing it, get the VIP tickets.  We got there right when they opened and the line for general admission was around the block.  We were able to walk right in and went straight to dinner.  After dinner, we got to walk right into the event.  No lines at all!

2. If you do not get the VIP tickets, get there early.  People were lining up way before the event started.  If you don't get the VIP tickets, you'll still have a great time and get to enjoy all of the magic!  I just really appreciated that it cut down on the lines so much :).

3. If you want to ice skate, do it first (before the Christmas light maze).  The line for ice skating got pretty long as the night went on.

4. Make sure you see Santa, he was the nicest and jolliest Santa ever!  We got right in to see him because we had the VIP tickets.

5. Wear super warm clothing!!  The event is not heated, so it'll pretty much be the same temp as it is outside hats and gloves are a must!

6. Enchant is great for people of all ages!!  Briar is only 15 months and had an absolute blast.  He loved all of the Christmas lights and watching the ice skaters go by.

I hope you guys are having a wonderful holiday season!!  We've been crazy busy, but doing so many fun things that I can't complain.  Next up is zoo lights and then DISNEYLAND!!!  Our kids don't know we're going so I am beyond excited to surprise them!!!

Christmas in the Girls Room

Confession?  I took these photos over a week ago and then completely forgot I took them ;).  My brain is kinda like scrambled eggs, but I am doing my best to create allll the holiday magic for my babes!  We threw up holiday decorations in the girls room before we had even eaten Thanksgiving dinner.  They're just so excited about Christmas and I can't even blame them!

I thought I'd do a quick room tour and share the little holiday touches in their room.  We'll see if the girls let me take these down in January... at the very least the twinkle lights will probably have to stay!

The girls room is my favorite for three reasons.  1. It's so dang cute and girly.  2. The girls spend so much time chatting together in their room.  And 3. They don't keep a ton of toys in their room so it's typically not messy :).  Don't get me started on our playroom, that's another story!

If you're looking for more sources, check out the girls shared room tour here!

Home for the Holidays with Glade® at The Home Depot

This post is sponsored by Glade® at The Home Depot.  All opinions expressed are 100% my own.  Thank you for supporting the brands that support this blog!

Well.  I caved.  I decorated the house for Christmas before we had even eaten Thanksgiving dinner.  In my defense-the girls have been begggggging us to put up our tree!  And I really just wanted to and I'm a grown up so I can do stuff like that ;).

The holidays are just magical with kids.  The girls LOVED decorating our tree!  We put on Home Alone, drank hot cocoa, and crossed our fingers that Phayre didn't drop any of the glass ornaments!  She only dropped and broke one so it felt like a major success.  Once we finished decorating the tree, Sloan kept standing back and admiring our tree which is exactly what I've always done!  It was the best night and I'm so glad we didn't wait to put our tree up.  I mean we get an extra week and a half to enjoy it!

We have an artificial tree that we've had for years.  If you're a fellow Oregonian you're thinking, "Shame Marisa!! Most of the countries Christmas trees are grown in Oregon, how can you have a fake tree?!"  Well, you're not wrong.  And while I love the idea of a real Christmas trees, there is about a 0% chance I could keep a tree alive for an entire month.  Also not super down with the pine needles and bugs.  So we have a fake tree and I love pulling her out of the box each year and fluffing her big beautiful branches :).

The one thing I miss about a real Christmas tree is the amazing smell.  I solved this problem though when I found the new holiday limited edition fragrances from Glade® at The Home Depot!  The Enchanted Evergreen scent makes our entire house smell like a Christmas tree farm.  I light one three wick candle in our living room and it makes our entire main floor small amazing.  I also love the Nutcracker Delight scent, it's a delicious hazelnut and praline scent.  Both scents are available in three wick candles and PlugIn scented oil air freshness refills.

Our holiday Glade® candles are spread out around the house.  I love that the candles come in a clear glass container.  There aren't any ugly stickers or anything on the container so it looks nice displayed.  Plus they're only $4.88 so I can't stop buying them!!  And the best part?  You can order them online from homedepot.com and have them shipped right to your door!

Happy holidays friends!

2018 Toddler Boy Holiday Gift Guide

As promised, here is my gift guide for toddler boys!  We didn't really get much for Briar last year because he was such a tiny baby so I'm super excited to see him open presents this year!  I found soooo many cute boy things, I seriously wish I could buy them all!!

P.S. Someone please buy this airplane ride on toy so that I can live vicariously through you.  Eric might kill me if I buy one more ride on toy and it is seriously the cutest toy I've ever seen!

from left to right, top to bottom

Snow boots.  We are visiting Mt. Hood this weekend and I got these snow boots for Briar.  They're so darling and sure to keep his feet warm (and you can't beat the price!!).

Beanie.  Briar has had this had since last year and it's still my favorite!

Footed "alls" pajama.  These are hands down my favorite jammies for B!  If you follow the "need, read, want, wear" philosophy for buying gifts, these fit for the wear or need category!  The fabric is so soft and the little bum flap on the back is too cute.  I love the new  Wee Gallery collaboration prints that goumi just released, make sure to check those out!  I highly recommend these jammies PLUS you can save 20% with code HBB20.

Vehicle stacking blocks.  I ordered these for B, I have a feeling the "knocking the tower down" part will be his favorite part ;).

Construction vehicle utensils.  Are these not the cutest ever?!  Grabbed these for B too!

Light up doodle board.  I have been wanting to get Briar one of these for awhile.  I think it would be a great toy to bring on car rides and outings.

Remote control race car.  Another fun one that I think Briar would totally love.  It's like the toddler version of a remote control car!

Go Go Fire Station.  Briar is absolutely obsessed with the  Go Go cars so I've been wanting to buy him the fire station for awhile!  There is also  spiral town track that looks super fun!

Go Go cars.  These are B's absolute fave!

2018 Girls Holiday Gift Guide

HOW are we already talking about Christmas, friends?!  This year whizzed by and we're already nearing the most magical time of year!  I love looking around and planning what I'm going to get my kiddos.  Here are the things I'm loving for my own girls and a few things that we already have and love.  I hope you find something fun for your little lady here!

From left to right, top to bottom.

Legos in case.  My girls could play with these legos forever.  I love that these ones come in a case!  We also have these  lego baseplates that the girls love building on.

Bicycle with basket and baby carrier.  Sloan wants a bike for Christmas so she's getting  this bicycle in pink.  We are actually going to get the smaller size in  purple for Phayre.  The price is awesome and I know they'll freak out over the little baby carriers in the back!

Roller Skates.  My mom already got Sloan these roller skates and they might just be the cutest things I've ever seen.  She also got her  these knee and elbow pads.  I keep seeing the price creep up on the  roller skates so if you're eyeing them, grab them fast!

Unicorn helmet.  This helmet comes in a few different colors!

Caboodle.  My girls need a place to keep all of their jewelry and lip gloss so I think these will be perfect.  I plan on putting some new  Poppy Lane and Co bracelets in them for Christmas (you can always save 15% on Poppy Lane and Co bracelets with code HELLOBABYBROWN15).

Microphone.  If you only buy one thing on this gift guide, buy this  microphone!!!  All three of my kids are obsessed with it (yes, even Briar loves singing into it)!

LOL Surprise Dolls.  No secret that my girls love LOL Dolls!!  I like the  Bling series because they come with a little loop on them so you can hang them like an ornament on the Christmas tree.  You can only order three at a time so I made two separate orders and got each of my girls three.

Knitted rainbow pillow.  We've had this pillow for awhile and my girls constantly play with it when they're playing make believe.  Plus is looks super cute on their beds!

Rainbow purse.  I ordered this for Sloan, but it's pretty small so I'm going to give it to Phayre instead.

Make a unicorn face stickers.  These are so cute, I ordered them for both of my girls.

Princess puzzle in purse case.  Sloan is going to love this puzzle and I love that it comes in a cute case.  We have several Crocodile Creek puzzles and love them.

Unicorn glitter color pencils.  I always get the girls art supplies for Christmas and I know they'll really love these because they have glitter.

Sparkly cat ear headphones.  Sloan has these already and Phayre is getting some for Christmas.

Knitted rainbow beanie with pom.  I had to get these for the girls, perfect to throw in their stockings and I know they'll wear them all winter long.

Dollhouse.  This is the dollhouse that we have and I cannot recommend it enough.  My girls play with it every single day.  There is also a  modern farmhouse one available that's super cute!

Unicorn snow tube.  CANNOT wait to use this in the snow this winter!!!

Books and workbooks.  I included a few of our favorites in the links below!

If you're looking for more gifts, I found a few things for my girls at Maisonette!  I love this  doll stroller and this  kitty doll!  You can save 15% with code HELLOBABYBROWN15.

Follow The Yellow Brick Road with JCPenney

This post is sponsored by  JCPenney.  Thank you for supporting the brands that support this blog and my family!  All photos taken by the amazing and talented  Lindsey Wiatt Photography.

I loved holidays before I had kids, but my love for holidays has reached an all time high in the last few years.  My girls love dressing up so Halloween is very well loved in this house!  Last year we dressed up as a circus family for Halloween and I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what we should be this year.  After a few google searches, I found Wizard of Oz costumes for the entire family at JCPenney!

JCPenney's Halloween shop has thousands of costumes.  From Disney princesses to bunny rabbits to cowboys, you name it-JCPenney has it.  I love that they carry adult costumes down to infant costumes.  A one stop shop is welcomed by every busy mom, right?

I chose Wizard of Oz because it was a fun and easy family costume idea, but mostly because Sloan is very much into witches right now and loved the Wicked Witch of the West costume.  She was allll about that black lipstick too :).  Phayre loved being Dorothy, her cute little braids were so perfect!  Briar's lion costume was seriously one of the cutest things I've ever seen.  Even if you aren't doing a Wizard of Oz theme, please dress your baby up as a big fuzzy lion!  And Eric, oh my sweet sweet husband.  Dressing up as the tin man was definitely not his first choice, but he'd do just about anything to make our girls smile.  So he's basically a saint and wins dad of the year award!  I love you E  :).

Check out the JCPenney Halloween shop for tons more costumes!

Here are a few photos in these darling costumes.  I will link all of the items below!
